I am overall pleased with this mantle. It looks great and was easy to hang. It is also hollow and easy to take on and off. Therefore, you can hide stuff in it, too. You know, like, weed and stuff...hehehe.

We ordered this and the description stated that it was stain quality. However, the front of the mantle has been repaired (likely due to a knot). I accept that it is supposed to have a distressed appearance, but the repair on the front is a bit beyond beyond "distressed." We'll have to see how much work is involved in getting this ready for a medium to dark stain...
The good thing so far is that it is easy to mount.

This beautiful mantel shelf has totally transformed what I previously thought was an ugly fireplace. I almost didn't buy the house because of it. I was hesitant to buy a shelf online, but trusted Amazon, so I went ahead with the purchase. It is easy to install, only taking about 30 minutes once you decide where to hang it, and is very sturdy. The corbels that come with it put the finishing touches on it. My fireplace has now become the beautiful focal point of my living room! Everyone raves about it. The rustic oak I selected from Pearl Mantels was just what it needed for the transformation! I'm so happy.
